Information
K-series manual transmissions are equipped with two types of speed sensors:
- Vehicle Speed Sensor (the "slow" speed sensor). Installed on the Final Drive of K-series gearboxes, mostly Integra/RSX models up to 2004.
- Countershaft Speed Sensor (the "fast" speed sensor). Installed on the Countershaft of most K-series gearboxes after 2002. i.e. all Honda Accord models and Integra/RSX models after 2004 are equipped with the "fast" sensor.
When swapping a K-series Engine into vehicles made before 2000, such as the Civic EG/EK, users encounter the issue that their instrument cluster only recognizes the "slow" speed sensor, as that was the standard at the time.
The built-in converter on the KPro v4 board solves this issue.
Connection
- Connect the "fast" speed sensor to the ECU at Pin A18 VSS.
- Connect the VOUT Pin from the KPro v4 board to the instrument cluster speed signal input.
- In KPro Manager, enable Countershaft Driven Speed Sensor so the ECU correctly interprets the "fast" speed sensor.
